Term 2 Week 1

This week began in com 2, the rest of the class was working on their checklist's but seeing i'd finished the previous term, i was left to just do my calendar. When Terry came over he told me to start up clickview player and to search up for tutorials for solidworks. The next period the computers were down so we went up to the metalwork room. Me, Sam and Kenji were ahead so Terry gave us our MDF board to make our moulds with. I learned that the mould would be a series of pieces in which the ply-wood would be clamped to to form the curvature. On Wednesday I had my first go at solidworks and felt it was very difficult to use. I played around with it, using its various functions until i formed the basic shape of my longboard. Today i'll be using solidworks again, as we are in the com-labs. Next week i hope to begin building my mould.

Term 1 Week 10

This week on monday, we were continuing cutting 15mm strips of flax as our previous ones had shrunk, leaving gaping holes in our flax-work. After cutting about 60 more strips, I had finished with my flax. After we had cleaned up, terry called us around the table to explain our next task - to draw our curvature of our boards. On Wednesday we continued working on our curvature drawings, also drawing what our to-be-made moulds would look like. I finished my drawing and took some photos of it to post on our blogs. Today i completed the new checklist, meaning i'm up-to-date with all of term 1's computer work!

Term 1 Week 9

On Monday i began cutting flax to lay width-ways over my pre-flattened flax. I cut them 15mm wide and roughly 25cm long (as the width of my longboard is 20cm). I cut over 60 strips and laid them out to make sure i had enough to fulfill the dimensions of my longboard. Sure enough, i had plenty. On Wednesday we were in the com-labs writing reflections and updating our calendar. I managed to finish all of my checklist except for two tasks. However today (Thursday) i finished all these tasks (7480 assessment and field trip pics) and posted them on this blog. I also updated the calendar and completed the checklist.
